The Brewery: “Y Bragdy Mws Piws / The Purple Moose Brewery is a '40-Barrel' micro-brewery based in the historic harbour town of Porthmadog, North Wales, close to the mountains of Snowdonia. Brewing commenced on 14th June 2005 with a one-off special pale ale at 3.5% called "No.1". The Beer: “Ochr Dywyll y Mws/Dark Side of the Moose is a delicious dark ale brewed from Welsh mountain water and natural ingredients. Using a delicate blend of dark crystal malt, roasted barley and Bramling Cross hops the 'Dark Side' exhibits a rich malty flavour balanced with fruity bitterness. “ Another good un, just enough fruitiness without being too sickly. 4.6% A.B.V. The brewery: “Y Bragdy Mws Piws / The Purple Moose Brewery is a '40-Barrel' micro-brewery based in the historic harbour town of Porthmadog, North Wales, close to the mountains of Snowdonia. Brewing commenced on 14th June 2005 with a one-off special pale ale at 3.5% called "No.1". The beer: "Crystal malted barley combined with aromatic hops, creates a smooth full bodied malty beer. The perfect accompaniment to an evening of Christmas cheer in front of a roaring open fire. Strong bitter 5.0% ABV. Deep red Malty hoppy winter fruits." Another seasonal and I liked this. The fruitiness was dialled down a bit which suited my palate well. December 2022. Related entries

Brewing commenced on 14th June 2005 with a one-off special pale ale at 3.5% called "No.1". The beer: "Calon Lân is an amber coloured best bitter brewed with water from the hills of Snowdonia. 4.0% ABV......Crystal malt & roasted barley, combined with aromatic U.S. hops, creates a smooth, full bodied, malty beer with a pleasant fruity hop finish." Enjoyed this, those pesky hops were kept largely in check. A nice combination of flavours. April 2023. Related entries.

    The brewery: "Purple Moose Brewery is based in the historic harbour town of Porthmadog, nestled in the beautiful foothills of Snowdonia, North Wales. Our multi award-winning beers are brewed with love and passion using entirely UK malted barley and water from the hills of Snowdonia." See more The beer: "Cwrw Glaslyn/Glaslyn Ale is a fine golden premium bitter brewed from Welsh mountain water and natural ingredients. 4.2% ABV. The name comes from the mighty Glaslyn river which begins among the upper slopes of 'Yr Wyddfa' (Snowdon) before cascading through the Aberglaslyn Pass until it reaches Porthmadog Harbour and the Irish Sea beyond." Another ale procured for me by a good friend on a recent trip to north Wales - and very much appreciated it was too, very tasty indeed, A nice balance of flavours.  April 2022. Related entries
